Fisherman's Pet origin story is a story of a turtle and wanting him to be fed the best food possible without spending a small fortune on live food. After going to the local pet store and online shopping we were not happy because we were unable to find a turtle food that was wild caught, chemical free, and most importantly made in the USA. We eventually settled with the best product we could find at the local pet store: sun dried shrimp from China. Over the next two years I thought about making our own pet food and one day while commercial fishing for mullet I caught some glass minnows. Excited I loaded the boat with the anchovy minnows and rushed home to use my wife's dehydrator to begin processing them. After a few months of experimenting on the dehydration process and product sampling/testing, we created a unique product that not only tastes great to your pet but is super healthy too. In our house we have 8 dogs, 1 turtle, and several chickens. The dogs each receive a handful of minnows each morning on top of their freeze dried dog food, and countless snacks through out the day. The turtle's main source of food now is minnows and the occasional live shrimp when I can catch them. The chickens no longer get hollow meal worms from the feed store for their protein boost, they receive a cup of minnows a day and devour them in seconds.
